Auburn-Truckee

Today was an exhausting day, so the report will be brief. Up at 5:30 AM, load Luggage at 6:00, then ride down the street for Breakfast at Denny's. We were on the road by about 7:00 AM

The exhasuting part was that we had to ride from Auburn at 1,450 elevation to Donner Pass which is at 7,229 elevation. I have never done anything like this. We completed the ride at aprox 4:30 PM. That's a long day of intense physical exertion. We made a wrong turn at the end, riding about a mile uphill away from our hotel. A very helpful park ranger helped us sort it out. We were physically spent when we arrived. There were definately rewards for the day's work. The weather was good again and the scenery was sensational. I tried to capture some of it with the camera.

Missed you at small group tonite, Jay. But we know you are on to bigger and better MOUNTAINS! Your safety remains our concern.

I enjoyed your posts- read every one tonite, so now I am caught up.

Way to go Jay! Looks like an epic climb, especially for the fourth day of your ride! Can't wait to read the gory details (read blog before text posted)

Great to talk to you last night. Looking at your elevation graph really drives home how intense that ride must have been. 60 miles of steadily increasing elevation = ouch! Oh well, let me get back to sitting in my chair for 8 hours.

Wow Jay, yesterday's ride definitely meets my criteria of a major hurdle! Now, hopefully you will be rewarded with a chance to spend that elevation gain in a fun downhill cruise. Those are great pictures of the Sierras and the Donner pass. Keep up the good work and stay safe.

Hello Jay. What a pleasure it is to read your blog and experience your journey vicariously. Your regular detailed posts, together with photos suggest that you have your own computer. If so, how are you connecting? Wireless? //Ron

Jay,

You don't know me, but I just retired from "D" this past march. I have been putting in some miles with the RABA retirees rides. I previously rode with Rick T. Tell him Hi and good luck to both of you.
